Dear Modern Knowledge Schools Middle School Families,
Welcome to another school year!
It is my honor to continue my role as the principal at Modern Knowledge Middle School for this school year. This is my 16th year in Bahrain and at MKS, where I enjoyed many exciting roles like being a Physics teacher, a head of the science department, and an assistant IB coordinator. But being the middle school principal has brought special meaning and privilege. I truly enjoy working with our multinational school community of educators.
At MKS, we look forward to providing your children with a challenging education that builds academic excellence, encourages creativity and global mindset, promotes lifelong learning, and fosters respect for self, others, and heritage. MKS remains committed to continuous improvement for all staff and students, and strives to live up to our motto “Making Kids Successful!” We offer an enriched American curriculum with an international perspective for students K-12. Facilitated by a caring, professional, and specialized staff of teachers, MKS strives to provide students with opportunities to build 21st Century skills. We empower our students to become critical, independent thinkers with the skills to participate dynamically and successfully in an ever-changing global society.
MKS curriculum standards are based on the American Education Reaches Out (AERO) Standards developed by the U.S. State Department’s Office of Overseas Schools. MKS is implementing both the English Language Arts and Mathematics Common Core Standards. These standards also guide our school improvement plans, professional development, and program evaluations. They provide the basis for gathering data on how we assess the progress of students in each of our schools.
In these special circumstances, we will continue to seek new ways to support and guide teachers and staff in providing the best educational setting for our students. Together, we will celebrate the successes and continue looking for ways to improve our instructional practices. Building relationships among all stakeholders is paramount for the effectiveness of the school. As a staff we value taking the time to get to know each individual student and his/her family, in order to provide them with the best educational experience.
Let’s have a great year!
