Writing to this special audience fills me with such a sense of pride and responsibility to welcome you to the academic year 2023-2024 at Modern Knowledge Schools. You are on the right web page where IB students, parents/guardians from grade 11 to 12 can access information about our exciting IB programme.
We are excited and looking forward with much hope, dedication and enthusiasm to a new academic year. Here at MKS we are ready to proceed with our strategic goals to improve and excel in the areas of teaching and learning while providing excellent experiences for all our students.
This year, the MKS IB programme will continue to move forward with an action plan premised on the best standards and practices guided by IBO to ensure that we implement IB programmes with fidelity, to achieve results that ultimately lead to the fulfillment of the IB and school’s vision and mission that are perfectly aligned with the IBO mission and vision.
I warmly welcome you to this university-preparatory curriculum that is recognized as the pinnacle of secondary education – The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. IB curriculum is as challenging as it is rewarding, and is aligned perfectly with Modern Knowledge Schools’ vision of an education that fosters responsible, respectful, global minded, lifelong learners.
I am further delighted to inform you that our 2023 IB Diploma class scored an impressive top score of 39 points. Despite the ups and downs that we all go through in a period of two years of IB education, nothing resonates with me more than seeing our students thrive and grow into very happy, fulfilled young adults.
Congratulations to the top scoring student, Fatma Soliman as well as the class of 2023. I’d also like to express fathomless gratitude to our wonderful IB teachers and senior leadership team for making this achievement possible.
The focus of our IB programme is to develop internationally minded people who recognize their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, therefore helping to create a better and more peaceful world, and this takes determination, discipline and dedication to get there. Not to mention the tough love that we deal out from time to time to keep all our learners on track, because the journey to the light at the end of the tunnel can not be achieved without an element of hardship.
It’s beautifully stated that “the best way to predict your future is to create it.” and it is always best to embrace “Education as the passport for the future, because as Malcom X once said “tomorrow belongs to those who are prepared for it. The IB program at our school certainly facilitates this process since our students are well equipped with the right skillset, dispositions and attributes to navigate their educational journey and as educators, we always never lose sight of the fact that helping to shape our students to be solid humans who can think about their role in the world is our cardinal role.
I echo the words of Maya Angelou: “You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. As a constant reminder that IB being experiential has many challenges but those who avoid failure avoid success. Consequently, it is important to understand our mistakes and learn the lessons they provide to us, in a bid to become more complete human beings.
