Modern Knowledge Schools offers an enriched American curriculum with an international perspective for students K-12. Facilitated by a caring, professional and specialized staff of teachers, MKS strives to empower our students to become critical, independent thinkers with the skills to participate dynamically and successfully in an ever changing global society. To connect our learners to the world, Modern Knowledge Schools, one of the few non bilingual schools in Bahrain, has adopted rigorous and demanding curriculum standards. The curriculum standards specify what students should know and be able to do. MKS curriculum standards are based on the American Education Reaches Out (AERO) Standards developed by the U.S. State Department's Office of Overseas Schools, the International Society for Technology in Education, The National Science Foundation, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and the National Council of Teachers of English/the International Reading Association. and other nationally recognized bodies. MKS curriculum is vertically aligned from pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The AERO grade level expectations, standards and benchmarks are cross walked and closely aligned with new US Common Core State Standards (CCSS). MKS is implementing both the English Language Arts and Mathematics Common Core Standards. These standards also guide our school improvement plans, professional development and program evaluations. They provide the basis for gathering data on how we assess the progress of students in each of our schools.

The kindergarten (KG1-KG 2) is the foundation for all future learning. The MKS curriculum provides for development of social skills, self esteem and academic success. Language and literacy development involves speaking, listening, writing and reading. MKS extends their oral language skills as students listen to and join in reading stories, poems, and songs. Students’ creativity is encouraged through play, art, drama, and kitchen science. Each class is planned by teachers who know the best way to encourage learning in young children.
